We are pleased to provide you formal firearms training. All courses are taught by NRA Certified Pistol and Illinois State Police Approved Concealed Carry Instructors. This training is based on the comprehensive NRA Basic Pistol Course, with additional required training for acquiring an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit. Whether you are an experienced shooter or have never fired a Firearm before, we will help you qualify for an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit. You will learn how to safely handle a handgun and hone in your skills as a marksman.

Our concealed carry class instructors come with 15 years of firearm experience, NRA training credentials including Basic Pistol, Shotgun,  Rifle, and Master Range Safety Officer.  Instructors come with training credentials from The Department of Homeland Security, The National Rifle Association and The state of Illinois.  Our instructors are professionals that bring real-life knowledge and experience into the classroom. Students will  benefit from instructors knowledgeable in both public and private law, our instructors make our academy unique.

 

This class is for those who have had no formal training approved by the Illinois State Police eligible for training hours credit .  In addition, the ISP requires that students complete a live-fire range qualification (discharging 30 rounds minimum at 5, 7 & 10 yards). Upon completion of this 2 day 16 hour class you will receive an 16 Hr. Completion Certificate.

Day 1: – During the first 8 hours of the Illinois CCW 16 Hour course we will cover

Firearm safety

  1. 4 basic firearm handling safety rules
  2. Home storage
  3. Vehicle storage
  4. Other storage, such as, storage at public and private agencies

Basic principles of marksmanship

  1. Stance
  2. b.Grip
  3. Sight Alignment
  4. Sight Picture
  5. Trigger Control

Care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealable firearm

  1. Gun identification: revolver, semi-automatic, misc.
  2. Ammunition identification and selection
  3. Safety and cleaning protocols
  4. Cleaning equipment
  5. Loading and unloading

Day 2: – Second 8 hrs. of the Illinois CCW 16 Hour Mandatory & Range-Qualification is on the second day.

All applicable State and Federal laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry, and transportation of a firearmThe Act relating to the ownership, storage, carry and transportation of a firearm

1) with emphasis on 430 ILCS 66/10(h) which includes instruction on the appropriate and lawful interaction with law enforcement while transporting or carrying a concealed firearm.

2) with emphasis on 430 ILCS 66/65 which includes instruction on prohibited areas and the parking lot exception.

  1. The FOID Act 430 ILCS 65/1 et. seq.
  2. Relevant portions of the ILCS including but not limited to

1) 720 ILCS 5/7-1. Use of force in defense of a person**

2) 720 ILCS 5/7-2. Use of force in defense of dwelling**

3) 720 ILCS 5/7-3. Use of force in defense of other property**

4) 720 ILCS 24/1 et. seq. Unlawful Use of Weapons**

 

We will  define dwelling, aggressor, forcible felony and unlawful use of weapons pursuant to the ILCS.

d. Live fire qualification with a concealable firearm consisting of minimum of 30 rounds which must include 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance.

In order to be eligible for a Illinois Concealed Carry License you must :

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Have a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card.
  • Have not been convicted or found guilty of a misdemeanor involving the threat of physical force or violence to any person within the past 5 years.
  • Must not have 2 or more violations related to driving while under the influence of alcohol, other drugs, intoxicating compounds within the past 5 years.
  • Must not subject to a pending arrest warrant, prosecution or proceeding for an offense or action that could lead to disqualification to own or possess a firearm.
  • Have not been in a residential or court-ordered treatment for alcoholism, alcohol detoxification, or drug treatment within the past 5 years.

Learn how

Learn how to safely handle both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, including loading, unloading, jam-clearing and basic maintenance of a firearm, as well as ammunition basics and shooting fundamentals.
